I didn't realize before this project that the camera
could capture light as it traveled. I learned from this project that you have to be quick when moving the light source if you want a better outcome. You have to be quick, but you also have to be cautious in what directions you are moving it. The photo above is a heart with swirls surrounding it. The bottom photo is a cyclone to represent our school.

Color Project/Study

The color I chose to do this project was green. I learned that sometimes it takes more than one try to get the right photo. I also learned that it gets harder to find your color after the first 20 or so photos. It can also be hard to put focus on a smaller object and still have it take up most of the photo.

 Andy Goldsworthy

This picture is my own recreation of one of Andy Goldsworthy's many leaf based photographs. The original picture was used with more vine type plants than what I used here, but I think it still looks good. I like how there's more than one color of leaves in this photo.

Richard Avedon Style

These photos are recreations of Richard Avedon's Bob Dylan portrait. I like the black and white version of this photo better because I like how her hair almost matches the color of the trees. And because there's no color it's easy to focus on the model.

 Richard Avedon Style

These photos are recreations of Richard Avedon's Tom Stoppard portrait. I like the black and white version of this photo better. Again, black and white photos seem more powerful to me. These photos both say, to me, I'm cool and you best stay away from me because I'm tough. I think the black and white really assists in showing the strength and power of the photo.

Richard Avedon Style

These pictures are recreations of Richard Avedon's James Baldwin photo. I like the black and white version of this photo better because it seems more powerful. When I look at the pictures they feel sad, but the black and white help that feeling progress. That's why it's more powerful to me.

Gray Scale

The first picture, top left corner, is my white value picture. The photo is of a hanging light. The second picture, top middle, is my lightest gray value picture. The duct tape on the end is actually the focus value. The third picture, top right, is my lighter gray value picture. This photo was taken of the trash can. The fourth photo, middle left, is my light gray value. This photo is of a printer.  The fifth photo, middle middle left, is my dark gray value. This photo is of my friend's shoe. The sixth photo, middle middle right, is my darker gray value. This photo is of an electricity outlet. The seventh photo, middle right, is my darkest gray value. The focus point is a basketball trophy. The eighth photo, bottom left, is my light black value. This focus point is of my friend's pant leg. The ninth and final photo, bottom right, is my black value. The focus point is a painting on a door.

Poses
I like how she really looks like a model in this photo. Her face is almost sassy and uncaring, but still focused on the job at hand. And this pose is very easy because it's very casual. Women with long hair tend to brush it aside, like she's doing in the photo. Not always, but sometimes women with also lean on one leg with one hip stuck out. The last thing I really like about this picture and her form is the sort of C shape her hip and shoulder make.
~Karli

Poses
I really love this photo. Her smile is just radiant and the slight reflection in her glasses really add a cool effect to the photo. This is a very comfortable pose because your whole body is relaxed and you get to sit down. I also like how her hands cross each other, making an x.

Poses
I like how this image looks. The outdoors just add to the beauty. I also like how her body forms a B shape. Her hands are relaxed as she rests her head on them. This pose is the perfect pose for comfort.

Bird's Eye

I like this photo because the view is pointed down. I also appreciate it for the shadows shown on the grass. Bird's eye view is obviously a way of portraying what a bird might see, but I find it very interesting that there are so many ways of taking a photo. Exploring has always been fun, and photography is a great way to explore. Plus, the shadow of the pole and hoop kind of looks like Tweety Bird.

Worm's Level

I really like ground level, or in this case worm level, photographs. It just seems like there so much more space to see the world. I personally like exploring the smaller things in photographs, and in this photo it ind of allows you to.

Ant's Eye
Ants are generally on the ground, and they're always looking for something whether it's below them, beside them, or above them. I laid myself and the camera down in the grass. Then, I focused in on what I thought an ant might be looking at. I chose the small flower as my subject. I really like this photo because the grass surrounds the tiny flower like guards. I also like it because the tall power pole is in the background, and in this image the flower appears to be almost half its height.

This picture was taken in forced or altered perspective. In this instance it seems like I am a giant holding my friend who fits on my palm. In truth we are about the same size, but this kind of demonstrates the saying that "friends come in all shapes and sizes." I think it's cool because you don't see many forced perspective pictures unless you deliberately search for them.

Rule of Thirds
I took a few snapshots of a good friend while she was taking a few of me. And as you can see they were both taken in different lighting and angles. The doors behind her are both an entrance and an exit. One door closes and a window opens, but in this case another door opens instead.
~Karli
Rule of Thirds
These pictures were taken outside of my home away from home. It fills me with mixed feelings. Many things have and still will happen in this place. People have shared many feelings like joy, anger, and sorrow in this place. And I just hope more joy than anger or sorrow.
~Karli

Rule of Thirds
I came upon this lonely evergreen next to the wired fence. In a way, it spoke to me. To me it screams loneliness, and you wouldn't be honest if you said you never felt lonely. And for that reason I took these photos. Which one looks better to you? Which one appeals to you more?
~Karli

Rule of Thirds
I captured the beauty of my yard in two different ways. One way captures the importance of the rule of thirds, the other not so much. These photos show a great representation of the darkness fading into light. Now, you can take it in a religious way, or a Star Wars approach. You can clearly see the light is more powerful in the photos versus the darkness. "Luke, I am your father," well I guess that's too bad.

Converging Lines
This piece captures more than just two of my best friends. No, it captures all beauty. The beautiful trees moving with the calm, gentle breeze. The sun shining so brightly, making everyone around glow. And the luscious green grass of the baseball field. This what makes me feel the happiest on the worst day, knowing somewhere, someone is having the best day.
~Karli
Converging Lines
In this piece I captured the detail of each brick in closer view. You wouldn't normally see the textured feel to it just walking by, unless you got inches away. This makes me think and feel there could be so much more to life if we all just looked or searched a little harder.
~Karli

Converging Lines
This piece explores feelings of adventure. By looking at it you can tell this picture was taken out of doors, but what does it remind you of? When I look at it I see a bridge leading to the future, new life, and new experiences. They're all just around the corner.

This photo envelopes two things I love and have loved. I love nature, and I loved softball more than any other sport and still do today. This photo reminds me of the times I played on this field and many others, and on hot days the teams would have lunch under the cool shade of trees.
Seeing this landscape almost brings tears to my eyes because I had quit playing softball on a team after I got glasses. Now, more than ever, I wish I hadn't done that and continued playing. I lost what talent I had when I was younger to play softball. Now, I can't run very fast and cannot throw a ball far enough to save my life.
The past can hurt, but you can either learn from it, or run from it.
 -The Lion King
You decide.

Relaxation is all that comes to my mind when I see a sunset, or the moon and stars shining during the night. I see the sun starting to fall on the horizon and see the moon starting to rise and it makes me think about their relationship. It sounds strange, but I truly think about this every time I see them both in the sky. What if the sun and the moon were like Romeo and Juliet? What if they were forbidden to see each other? They only get to see each other for a few minutes every day, sometimes not even that.
That's what moments in time are for, to stop and think. What are my options? Will I choose the right one?
~Karli
This piece explores my love of nature, and the holidays. Evergreens give off a glorious smell, and their appearance is twice the beauty. Every time I come across one I'll inhale deeply and think of past Christmases. Not only Christmas, but they also bring safety to my being. Many of these trees grow by my home and I always feel safest when I'm at home with my family.
~Karli
In this photo I wanted to capture the youth and life in past graduates, but especially my father. Getting to pass by this "blast from the past" almost everyday in school just reminds me of how fast time can pass. Time is precious, and I'm very happy to spend it with my family and friends.
